In my adventures to getting better pictures of the items I make and list, the best thing I have done is make a light box. Some people are addicted to chocolate or Coke, but not me, don't even think about taking my light box away from me, you would only be asking for trouble. HA!

I recently looked at one of my first sold items and quickly decided the buyer bought the item out of sympathy. Oh the GLARE! That's when I began searching the net for ideas to better photograph my items, and repeatedly I read that having a light box was an essential tool for product photography.

I could have bought one, but being the crafty person I am, I decided to take on the challenge of making it myself. Which turned out to be extremely easy and cheap! Total cost was $1.50, yes, you read that correctly. Box was "Free", a trip to the dollar store netted the tissue paper and poster board. Then it was home to make the box.

Below is the finished light box. If you have any questions, leave me a comment and I will be happy to reply.

And here is the actual photo taken using the light box...

If you are serious about taking better product photography, you can't go wrong with the following four items:
1) Light Box (handmade or bought)
2) Tripod
3) Clamp lights/Natural Light/Overhead light (Flash is a No-No)
4) Camera with a Macro Setting *tulip* (for close ups)

Have fun and don't come looking for me when you find yourself addicted to product photography. :)

Wow, I am not sure where this year is going!  I can't believe that March is so quickly approaching.  I have been busy, busy, busy crocheting blankets for each of my granddaughters.  Six of them!  :)

It all started with my newest granddaughter born in October, 2011.  I crocheted a baby blanket for her with the softest white yarn I could find and trimmed it in pink & purple.   I was very happy and excited when I finished it, but then it occurred to me, what a bad grandma I have been.   My other five granddaughters didn't get a blanket from me.  Soooooooooo..... I haven't put down my crochet hook since the revelation.  I had not crocheted for years prior to this adventure.

Next came having to decide what colors I would use.  I decided to go with what I felt went with each child:

Chloe, nine months old, who is bold and fun received a crocheted blanket in hot pink, black and lime green.
Braelyn, three years old, who is bright and colorful, her blanket was crocheted in variegated yarn of blue, green, yellow, pink & white.
Kalia, nine years old, she is a hockey goalie and fun received a blanket done in off-white & brown variegated yarn.

Marissa, soon to be 15, presented the most challenging to date.  She is so girlie, girl, loves the 40's, vintage and is very artistic.  I knew I had to make her something special.  I decided on Roses and Granny Square done in Dusty Rose, Sage Green & White.  I just completed 30 squares.  All that is left is to put them together using a trellis finish.  *whew*  I loved, loved, loved creating this afghan.

I will be sure to post a photo of the finished afghan.  I am so excited, can't wait to see it done!  One more afghan to crochet for granddaughter Airika.  WOOT!

When all is done, I just might have to look for other children to crochet for.  :)

Have a great week everyone!

As the Holiday Season quickly approaches I wanted to take a moment to wish ALL of you a safe & wonderful Holiday!

Days seem to pass quickly throughout the year and time doesn't seem to stand still long enough to share happy thoughts or to say how much I appreciate everyone who touches my life daily & how much they are appreciated.

For this reason I am grateful for the Holiday season.

May each of you find a quiet moment in your days throughout the season to share a *smile* or *hug* someone who touches your life in a special way.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
